Why am I a designer? The reason I’m a designer doesn’t even
start with the arts or design in anyway; it starts in high school, with me
playing on my schools football team. One day during practice I was hit from the
side and suffered a concussion. Safe to say my high school football career was
over. Looking for an alternative to playing sports I enrolled myself in a
Graphic Design course. Instantly I was hooked to design, I enjoyed creating
things through design. I have always enjoyed drawing and creating things, this
was an outlook for me to do so. After a
while I started to stay after school and enhance my knowledge, and skills for
the craft as well. I started a club in design at the school while I was there.
I also took the course every year advancing my skill, and becoming a very high
level of expertise in the class as well. I have been working on design and
designing for the past eight years now. When I look at an image I can say “Wow
that’s a great technique” or I can break the image down saying to myself what
the designer did and how he came up with the piece, and finally ending up where
he did. I think the turn of events in my life was for the best. I have embraced
graphic design and all it has to offer. I love designing, and I know I always
will.
