Being involved in the arts and the creative side of the process has always been important to me. Naturally, I have been drawn to all sorts of different kinds of art throughout my life and I think that being a graphic designer is the place that I found I work best. I like combining a business side with a creative side to get to an end result that consumers would want to partake in. Unlike some of the other art forms, graphic design is the outlet that allows for the most participation which is exciting to me. It is a chance to bring as many people together to enjoy and/or utilize something.
I also think that graphic design is a major part of making history. Many people look to the advertisements, packaging, publications, etc. to express the historical significance of a certain time period or movement. Being a part of the group that makes things that are often looked upon as influential in the culture, moment in history, or place in the world is something that I’m really drawn to. It’s my hope that throughout my career as a graphic designer that I will be able to contribute to this.
Most importantly, through graphic design I want to help people. There are so many opportunities to be had in graphic design that can help people and I want to be a part of that. I feel that there is a way to really make in impact in the world through graphic design that hasn’t necessarily been available before.
