Proposal / Timeline - CS

Proposal

I'm switching my thesis project to something completely different than what I initially had in mind.

My project will be about my transition to vegetarianism 9 years ago. Vegetarianism is a philosophy and lifestyle  that I hold very close to me. When I became a vegetarian 9 years ago, I simply did it because I thought meat was disgusting. 9 years later,  I continue to see the importance that, that decision plays in my everyday life. I honestly think that most people would choose a vegetarian lifestyle if it wasn't for the media constantly shoving meat down your throat. People often think that vegetarians are extreme and that we are always trying to force our lifestyles onto other people but that is not the case.

Now that I'm older and wiser, I am more informed about the benefits of not consuming animal products and I want to showcase that in my thesis project. My plan is to create material across different platforms that will view vegetarianism in another light that I'm still planning on exploring.

Along with vegetarianism, my project will also be focused on speciesism and racism. I am planning on comparing the two and showcasing their similarities and differences.  For this, I would like to use both animals raised for consumption and domestic animals. There's violence everywhere and very little that we can do about it, but everyday we are faced with the choice to support a multimillion dollar killing industry or to deny them.

One idea that I really want to get across in this project is to not force my opinion onto anybody else. I want people to decide for themselves whether and face their own opinion of right and wrong. My thesis project will be subjective and won't tell anybody that this is wrong or this is right.

I plan on getting some people involved in this project, I know plenty of vegetarians/vegans who would be really happy to get involved. When I present my final project, I want people to question their actions and have a real deep reflection on whether what they do is right or wrong.
