Why am I a designer?
After taking art class after art class trying to figure out what
particular area that involved my creativity laid in, I found design. Design to
me is what makes most sense. I’m allowed to be as creative as I want and manipulate
situations in ways that allow me to communicate without actually talking. What
design allows me to do is exciting.
Visual learning as always has been something that has helped me.
It’s hard for me to understand and learn by reading or memorizing. If I cant
picture it something in my brain switches off. Being able to create something
visual that tells a story is magical. Among the things that design includes I
find being able to place text and content around in a thousand different ways
is freeing. However being given guidelines and rules helps me remember that I’m
doing it for something greater.
As well as that I think contributing to how the world looks and
communicates is important. We live in such a culture where the things we see
impact us tremendously. Every single day we pass things and look at things that
are designed for a purpose and to send a message. I wanted to be apart of that.
I want to be able to look back at my time as a graphic designer and say that I
helped this company, that company, that organization look how it wants to look
and help send their message through design. That sums it up.
