I design because I love problem solving. Every project is a broken
puzzle that needs assembled into the clearest and most visually articulate
models. Then models are then shared with the world. Creating and sharing your
original ideas is the most satisfying work I have done.
I design because I love research and knowledge. A large part of designing is becoming an expert on whatever you’re creating. I find it unsettling and embarrassing to not know what I’m talking about. Design lets me take my knowledge and disseminate it to the proper audiences.
I design because I love organizing. I cannot live and function in a world of visual pollution. I can never cure the world of bad design, but I can at least contribute my powers toward creating and inspiring better design.
I design because I love the impact. There’s no other job that I can have
the impact that a designer holds. I can influence peoples decision and change people’s
minds. A doctor may be able to hold one individuals life in his hands,
operating on a single person at a time. My work, in the right place and context
could save millions of lives. Most people die of lack of potable drinking water
and food, my work has a greater effect on the global community than any single
doctor.
